About Jack and Jill
Hi,
We’re Steven Jack Butala and Jill DeWit.
Since 1999, we’ve been navigating the world of real estate together, completing over 16,000 property transactions. Our journey hasn’t been about shortcuts or flashy methods—it’s been about smart strategies, consistent hard work, and staying true to our philosophy of investing without debt.
In 2015, we made the decision to share what we’ve learned with others, launching Land Academy to empower aspiring investors to create success in land investing. We’re passionate about teaching others the same tools, processes, and strategies that helped us build our own business from the ground up.
About Jack
Jack’s expertise lies in systems and numbers. From perfecting acquisition strategies to optimizing data-driven processes, he thrives on breaking down complex problems into actionable solutions. Whether it’s pricing a mailer or analyzing a market, Jack’s focus is always on making smarter, more informed decisions.
Outside of real estate, Jack enjoys exploring the open road, often finding inspiration during long motorcycle rides or while planning the next adventure.

Jill brings the heart and voice to Land Academy. Known for her enthusiasm and positivity, she’s the voice on the phone that turns potential sellers into confident partners. Jill’s gift for connection and understanding helps bridge the gap between strategy and execution, ensuring every deal is a win-win.
When she’s not working, Jill loves travel, spending time with her family, and finding ways to encourage others to chase their dreams. Her passion for inspiring professionals—especially women—has made her a dynamic force in the community.
